Alpha target A 3-point target.
Accuracy A Gameplay Theme where you time your stroke to hit changing targets.
Amplify A Perk that doubles the point value of a target.
Arcade A Gameplay Theme with diverse intervals and dynamic targets, obstacles, and water level. The “gamiest” of all Wavelength themes.
Avatar The figure on screen representing your movements.
Balance A Gameplay Theme where you time your stroke perfectly to hit consistent targets.
Beta target A 2-point target.
Boost A consumable item that you earn for every 10 Stars. Boost temporarily increases the Level of your selected Perk by 1 for that specific workout only.
Bonus Workouts Special workouts that you can unlock by earning enough Stars in a Campaign.
Campaign A collection of Wavelength workouts that share a common Gameplay Theme and fitness focus. Campaigns are completed sequentially.
Campaign Stars Campaign Stars is the sum of the Stars that you’ve gained from each Campaign. This metric only counts distinct Stars. If you first earn 1 Star in a workout, then repeat the workout and earn 2 Stars, you’ll have 2 Stars added to your Campaign Stars count (rather than 3).
Collision penalty Points that are subtracted from your score if you hit an obstacle in a Wavelength workout.
Flexibility A Gameplay Theme centered around water level changes. Row fast enough to stay above the water; it’s up to you to decide just how fast you want to row.
Gameplay Theme A term used to describe the specific game structure applied to a Wavelength workout or Campaign. There are five Gameplay Themes: Accuracy, Arcade, Balance, Flexibility, and Meditation. Gameplay Theme differs from workout category. A given fitness focus (eg, building endurance) can be achieved through more than one Gameplay Theme.
Gamma target A 1-point target.
Grace Period The 2-second period that your avatar may remain under water before you start losing points.
Level Synonymous with “workout.”
Meditation A Gameplay Theme with less workout structure and few interval changes. Perfect for finding a meditative rhythm and rowing at your own pace.
Obstacle An object to avoid. Hitting an obstacle subtracts points from your score.
Perk A power-up that can assist you one time during a Wavelength workout.
Perk Levels Perks range in power from level 1 to level 5. The only way to power up your Perks is to earn Stars while using them.
Shield A Perk that protects you from obstacles.
Stars

Stars are like experience points (ie, XP). They unlock new workouts and Perks, and can level-up your Perks, too. You collect Stars by completing Wavelength workouts; your score will earn you between 0-3 Stars. When completing a Wavelength workout that's part of a Campaign, you must earn at least 1 Star in order to unlock the next level.

Submerge A Perk that protects you for up 3 seconds if your avatar goes under water.
Water level A dynamic feature of Wavelength workouts. The water level represents the slowest speed (aka, the lowest intensity) that you’re permitted to go without losing points. The water level changes in some workouts and remains static in others.
Water penalty There’s a 2 second grace period each time your avatar goes beneath the water. After those 2 seconds lapse, a water penalty kicks in, whereby you lose 2 points for every 1 second you’re below water.
