ENDEAVOR: YOUR OPPONENTS

Note: This post builds on the information included in the Introducing: Endeavor blog. If you haven’t read that, we’d recommend starting there.

Endeavor isn't the first Ergatta experience featuring head-to-head matchups. But unlike our Community Games, Races and Vortex, your competition in Endeavor isn't other members. It's adaptive, computer-guided opponents that stand in your way.

MEET YOUR OPPONENTS

There are dozens of opponents in Endeavor, and each has a distinct battling style. As you play, you’ll learn their strengths and weaknesses—that'll help you defeat them more efficiently the next time you face them.

STUDY YOUR OPPONENTS

In many cases, your actions will be influenced by your opponent's actions. During the workout, you'll see the opponent's "intent bar" above them. This bar shows what action they're planning to do next, and when exactly they'll do it. The video above shows a few examples.

The opponent intent bar is valuable information. Think of it—if they're planning to attack with 40 damage in 30 seconds, that gives you plenty of time to build up your shield before they strike. You may not be able to offset the damage 100%, but every little bit helps.

That's just one example of how studying the intent bar gives you an advantage. The more you play, the more tricks you'll uncover.

Alpha vs Beta Opponents

ALPHA VS BETA OPPONENTS

Every opponent has both an alpha and beta version. Alpha versions are stronger and take longer to defeat. In the image above, you've got Alpha Megalos on the left, with 200 total health, and Beta Megalos on the right, with 60 total health.

As you can imagine, it will typically take you fewer turns to defeat Beta Megalos. That's not a hard and fast rule though. If you have a lot of upgrades when you face an Alpha Megalos, and you pick the best possible lane strategy, then it could take you fewer turns and/or less time.

One thing you can count on: Whenever a workout has both alpha and beta opponents, the last opponent you face will be an alpha—like a final boss character.
